The employer is a leading healthcare provider in Canada, dedicated to delivering compassionate care to seniors in a long-term care setting. The Personal Support Worker (PSW) role involves providing personalized care to residents while supporting their physical, emotional, and social well-being as part of an interprofessional team.
Responsibilities:
Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs) in alignment with a restorative care approach.
Document care provided and report any changes in residents' conditions to registered nursing staff.
Participate in care planning, resident care conferences, and quality improvement initiatives.
Promote a safe, supportive, and respectful environment using dementia-friendly and palliative care principles.
Follow organizational policies, including zero tolerance for abuse and neglect.
Attend training, workshops, and in-services to enhance skills and knowledge.
Maintain compliance with health and safety standards, including infection control and emergency procedures.
Qualifications:
Minimum IELTS score of 5.5 - 6.0 (or equivalent English language competency).
Bachelor's degree in Nursing or a 3-year vocational Nursing degree.
Experience working with seniors, particularly in long-term care or end-of-life care settings.
Strong interpersonal, communication, and critical thinking skills.
Ability to work both independently and as part of an interprofessional team.
Basic computer proficiency for documentation and communication.
Criminal background check.
Certifications in GPA, U-First, BCLS, or related specialties are considered assets.
Familiarity with the Long-Term Care Homes Act and Regulations is preferred.
